Russel was best man at my wedding and I knew him through our time at Rotaract, an Interrailing Holiday in Scandanavia and the few years he spent in the NHS in East Anglia. We spoke just after Christmas and although in good spirits I could tell a difference in his voice that suggested his health had deteriorated. He was a good friend and a good man and will be sadly missed.
